I’m currently researching a new moving image piece (provisionally entitled Home is where the heart is) that explores the formation of Scottish cities through a kaleidoscopic lens and a love of Glasgow.

I don’t yet know exactly what the final form or emphasis of focus will be, but I’m currently researching:

  • how the swell of urban populations aligned with the formation of the contemporary multinational corporations
  • the East India Company
  • the opium wars of the British empire
  • the current international opium trade
  • current experiences and approaches to (opioid derivative) addictions – both personal and institutional
  • how Glasgow formed as a city
  • kaleidoscopes (and their history)
  • histories of working class resistance in Glasgow, past and present
  • parks and green spaces in Glasgow

This piece is anchored in my ongoing commitment to a process of generating radical change around our collective relationship to land in Scotland.
