I’m currently researching a new moving image piece (provisionally entitled Home is where the heart is) that explores the formation of Scottish cities through a kaleidoscopic lens and a love of Glasgow.
I don’t yet know exactly what the final form or emphasis of focus will be, but I’m currently researching:
- how the swell of urban populations aligned with the formation of the contemporary multinational corporations
- the East India Company
- the opium wars of the British empire
- the current international opium trade
- current experiences and approaches to (opioid derivative) addictions – both personal and institutional
- how Glasgow formed as a city
- kaleidoscopes (and their history)
- histories of working class resistance in Glasgow, past and present
- parks and green spaces in Glasgow
This piece is anchored in my ongoing commitment to a process of generating radical change around our collective relationship to land in Scotland.
